Producer Ainsley Gardiner's latest feature film Boy
(directed by Taika Waititi) has won Grand Prix of the International
Jury at the Berlin International Film Festival. Boy
was one of three New Zealand films, all produced by women, that
took away half the major awards in the Generation section at Berlin
this month. Producer Wendy Cuthbert's The Six Dollar
Fifty Man (written and directed by Mark Albiston and
Louis Sutherland) received a special mention in the shorts
section.
WIFT NZ member Kahra Scott-James (sound designer) was also in
Berlin, having received NZFC assistance to attend the Berlinale
Talent Campus, a six-day creative summit for up-and-coming
filmmakers occurs alongside the Berlin Film Festival.
